The word of the craftsman

The word of the craftsman

I am Pierre, a knife maker based in Nueil-les-Aubiers, a small village in the Bocage Bressuirais. My journey is unconventional: after literary studies and a master's degree in psychology, I decided to leave the academic world to explore manual work. After a stint in artistic blacksmithing, I naturally turned to knife making. This profession allows me to work with a variety of materials – wood, horn, steel – but craftsmanship is not just an individual pursuit, as there is an important social aspect not to be neglected. I want my workshop to be open so that everyone can see what I do and understand what happens behind an object as simple as a knife.

My workshop, set up in an old forge, is a place of transformation where I create unique pieces, from kitchen knives to hunting knives, including pocket knives and table knives. For me, each knife is a tool that should accompany its owner over time. I aim to create objects that will stand the test of time, carrying a story and a know-how that I enjoy sharing with my clients.
The particularity of the craftsman

The particularity of the craftsman

Pierre is a passionate cutler, distinguished by his desire to enhance raw materials. Unlike some of his colleagues, he does not merely create knives; he repairs, maintains, and breathes new life into worn blades. With training in artistic blacksmithing and artistic cutlery, he has adapted his knowledge to a practice that respects tradition while remaining accessible and locally engaged.

With an approach that prioritizes human connection and proximity, Pierre is known for his desire to transmit and share. He sees in every blade, every handle crafted, an opportunity to create an object that tells a story, a story of passion, technique, and a love for a job well done.
